Color

The purpose of the colors are to bring warmth. The white, yellow and even the black background create this effect of temperature. It was a little reckless of me to go this close to the campfire, but I wanted the color and warmth of it to be as transcendental as possible.

The color of the sky was the "main idea" of the photograph together with the leaves. They were so vivid and natural that they canceled out the "opaque-like" state of the other elements of the picture, including the girls.

Portraits

Bella, Sole Bella

This is one of my favorite portraits. Not only for the subject, or the portrait itself, but for how much the moment in which I took the picture is special to me. This is my cousin, she is the very typical category of 10-year-old Brazilian girl. She is very talkative and playful, but she also had a "model side', as my sister and I like to point out. She is very pretty and can bring meaning to any picture she is the subject of. This picture was spontaneous, my cousins, my sister and I were walking in a park in Taunton and it was a sunny, beautiful day, and she insisted that I took a picture of her. So I did, and the result was great.

Dongsaeng
This one is my favorite portrait of all times. My sister is a good person, she really is, but she has her tough moments. I chose to go walk, and she came with me. It was only my sister and I, just walking around and chatting like usual. I asked her if I could take a picture of her, and she said yes. I could not explain how devastated I was at that moment, the moment in which I took the picture, because she knew - we all knew - she ruined every moment my family and I had together and for her to not be so defensive and disturbing, the only person she could be around was my older cousin or I. She's astonishing, a brilliant person, but she has her down beats. The "troubled waters" of the picture did not come from her, instead they came from me. We haven't talked the same way ever since, so I just hold on to this picture as a memory.

One Week, One Photo

Taeyang
This is my favorite picture from break. I took this picture because the sky looked so beautiful and it was so warm, everything around basically screamed "Spring!" When I first attempted to take the picture, the sun was in my face, so I reached out my hand to try to block it, but then I realized it actually looked good! I really liked how my finger seems to be touching the sun, and I really wanted the ring to also be an important detail (the ring; that is a long story...), but I think the background and the sky itself looked amazing. It is not very "technical", if you will, it was raw and so spontaneous and natural. This is absolutely my favorite picture.

(And just for the sake of curiosity, Taeyang means Sun in Korean.)

Point Of View

Original High Angle

Final Edit High Angle

This picture was firstly cropped as I wanted to get rid of the carpet and let the focus be the artificial deer, tree and snowflakes. (And even though they're artificial, I think it's impressive how much of a natural atmosphere they transmit.) Then I added a mask for brightness and contrast, and a mask for hue and saturation. I wanted the picture to be as "cold" as possible without losing its childhood essence, and I frankly think it worked fine.

Original Low Angle

Final Edit Low Angle

The first thing I did to the picture was simply adding a mask and making it saturated with the most equilibrium I could manage to have. I surely wanted some things to stick out, such as the Sope Me flashcard and the vibrant colors present in the mattress. I created a mask to protect some colors from the saturation, however. The pink flowers would look wine-red, and that was not my goal. My room has always had the same cozy atmosphere (one of the reasons why I seldom leave it), and wine-red is not really a color that would suit it.
